Understanding how birds fly is quite difficult but we had a go at blowing straws to show the power of wind. We also made pretend aerofoil feathers to show how the wind pushes feathers up, helping birds to fly.

Aiming and Passing Skills
For our extra PE this term we are focusing on aiming and passing skills. This week after our warm-up we had a go at aiming by throwing beanbags to land in hoops. The children were good at this and challenged themselves by taking more steps backwards after getting the beanbag in the hoop a few times. We then practised passing to a partner and counted how many times in a row the beanbag was passed before being dropped. We might try and beat our scores next week!

Patchwork Quilt
Welcome back to term 3! When discussing past times traditions, we read the story of The Patchwork Quilt and spoke about how old pieces of material would be kept and used for something else, possibly a quilt. Thank you for sending in pieces of unused material for us to have our own patchwork quilt in the classroom. Over the holidays all the pieces were sewn together to make a lovely quilt, and the primary twos are proud to use it in their reading corner, to make it nice and cosy.
Challenge time
In our classroom, we have challenges set up around the room at different learning areas. The children work at these areas when they have finished an activity. One challenge at the construction area was to build a stable for the nativity animals and a challenge at the writing table was to write a story book. The children work at these areas very well and use what we have been learning in class to help them complete the challenge. I hope you like these photos of the challenges in action, and some completed challenges.
