Paper helicopters

We made some paper helicopters for our topic. We had a go at dropping them from the art room to see them fly. We changed different things on the helicopters to see what would make them land faster or slower.
Instead of using 1 paper clip, we tried using none, 2 and 3. We put blu-tack on the rotors and we also folded both rotors the same way.
We found that the helicopter with both rotors folded the same way landed first. We decided that this was because when they are both folded the same way, the helicopter does not spin.

Migration

As part of our topic we are learning about bird migration. We played a game to help us learn about some of the dangers birds might face on their journey. It took a long time for anyone in the class to make it to the finish line so this made us think about how difficult it must be for birds.

3D objects hunt

We worked in groups to go on a 3D object hunt around the school. Some of the objects were more tricky than others to find. One of the items the cylinder group found was the battery recycling tube, the spheres found a ball of wool, the cubes found a dice, the cuboids found the soap dispenser, the cones found some outdoor PE cones and the pyramids found the top of a pencil which is quite like a pyramid!

Spelling

After the lovely sunny weekend we were all set to go outside for spelling this week but I think the rain would have quickly washed our words away! Instead we practised in pairs using magnetic letters, with one partner testing the other on different words.

Shape pictures

We are learning about shape in maths. We worked in groups to create different pictures using shapes and we had to explain to the rest of the class what shapes we used, using the right vocabulary.

A car - can you spot the driver?

Funky chicken

At the end of the day on Friday we did our Funky Chicken for having the tidiest classroom. This was a bit of fun but also helped us with learning our left and right and it was important to stay in time and follow the rhythm.

Welcome on board!

We had some fun recording a safety message for a plane for our flight topic. We worked in groups to do different parts and came together at the end.
