For our topic we are learning about the different organs in our body. To show what we have learned about lungs we worked in groups to make a poster that had to give at least 3 facts about the lungs.
Welcome to the Primary 2 Bumblebees class blog! Please feel free to look at our blog anytime to find out what we have been doing at school and add any comments. Capacity and volume
In maths we are learning about capacity and volume. We worked together to order different containers from low capacity to high capacity. We have also been estimating how many cups of water, or how many cubes it will take to fill different containers.
We had lots of estimates to guess how many cups of water it would take to fill the tub. One person estimated 20 cups and guessed correctly!
We estimated how many cups of water it would take to fill the basin. It took 45 cups and the closest guess was 50 cups - not far off!
We estimated how many cups of water it would take to fill the jug. It took 5 cups and the closest guess was 7.
The BFG
We are enjoying reading the BFG in class. The children are very good at listening to the story and imagining what the story might look like when there are no pictures. We have been working on a display for the BFG and designed our own dream jars. We worked hard to carefully draw patterns in pen and then decorate them. Soon we hope to write our own dreams to put inside our dream jars.

Computer time
Bar charts
We have been having fun making bar graphs. We used the smart board to make a graph of our favourite colours.
We linked it to our topic and made a bar chart showing the different hair colours in Primary 2.
We went outside and made a bar chart, working in pairs to pass a beanbag, counting how many passes there were without dropping the beanbag.
The Pied Piper of Hamelin
The Primary 2 classes got to have a Puppet Workshop
David told us to keep our mouths open when we try not to move our mouths so that the sound can still come out.
The children got to choose a puppet to use for the story.
Finding out the names, ages and favourite foods of our puppets.
Meeting other puppets.
The town of Hamelin is over run with rats and the councillors are trying to get rid of them.
The rats are everywhere!
The Pied Piper of Hamelin offers to help the councillors get rid of the rats by playing his pipe so the rats will follow him.
The rats followed the Pied Piper all the way to the river and the town of Hamelin was rat free.
The councillors would not pay the Pied Piper. He played his pipe so the children would follow this time.
The children ended up in a land where the sweets were free and the rats were banned.
The Hansel and Gretel Puppet Show
We were treated to a visit from David and his puppet theatre. The school enjoyed meeting the Naughty Puppet, who some of the class remembered from last year.
The Naught Puppet did not say sorry for being rude so he had to go away. We were then joined by Hansel and Gretel who told us their story.
Spot the puppets!
