Last week was the Nursery to Primary 3 Christmas show - 'Rock Around the Flock'. The children all did really well, remembering lines and when to stand up and sit down, singing all the songs loudly and clearly and sitting quietly when someone was talking. All the rehearsals and hard work paid off and they did a great job of telling the story of the Nativity. Everybody played a valuable part in making the show a great success - well done! Here are a few pictures from the dress rehearsal.

Road safety
Some of the girls from Primary 6 came to give us a presentation on how to act safely and be seen when out and about during these dark days. They were very helpful and answered any questions we had.
Authors Live - Mairi Hedderwick
Mairi Hedderwick did an Authors Live session for Book Week Scotland on the BBC website. Because our topic was Katie Morag last term, we were very keen to tune in to listen to her talk about her books and tell us one of the stories. The primary 1, 2 and 3 classes got together to watch and listen to Mairi tell us about Katie Morag and how she came to life in the stories. She also told us the story of Katie Morag and the Tiresome Ted, with some exciting extra details. I think Mairi could have heard the round of applause she got from the children!
Book Week Scotland
For book week Scotland, the school suggested a number of activities we could get involved with in class. When we heard 4 short rings of the bell, we had to drop everything and read. The pupils followed this instruction very well and enjoyed reading a book of their choice aloud, by themselves or in a small group. Each class was also set the challenge of creating a book cover for their classroom door. We took a vote for a favourite book, and 'Superworm' by Julia Donaldson came out on top.
Past Times - classrooms
Maths games
think about numbers and maths topics in different ways.
To help us think about place value and the order of numbers,
we did 100 square jigsaws.
The children worked together to think about where numbers
would go and how the pieces would slot together.

Past Times topic
Our topic this term is Past Times. As an introduction to this, the Primary 2 Bumblebees sorted a selection of toys and made a pile old toys and a pile of new toys. We discussed how we knew the old toys were from long ago and compared them to the toys we get nowadays.
